Frequently Asked Questions about Student Applications

Please do not contact the supervisory teams before applying. If you have a question, you should email SUSTAIN@lincoln.ac.uk. If you contact us before the cut off period for queries (2 weeks before the application deadline), we will liaise with the supervisory team(s) on your behalf.
Please visit our 'How to Apply' webpage and read the instructions carefully before applying. You will need to complete a SUSTAIN Application Form, a SUSTAIN personal statement template (one for each project you are applying to). Please send the completed documents to SUSTAIN@lincoln.ac.uk, along with the following supporting documents: official transcripts (latest and previous degree(s)), current CV and language certification (if applicable).
Please see the recruitment timeline on our 'How to Apply' webpage. An indication of the timescale for receiving the outcome of your application is also given on this diagram. These timescales are subject to change and applicants will be contacted if the dates are updated.
If you are successful, referees will be contacted by your host institution.
You can apply to a maximum of 3 projects in each round of recruitment. On the application form, you will provide us with a ranked list of projects (i.e. first choice, second choice...). If applying for multiple projects, you need to complete a personal statement template for each project you have selected. This can be found on our 'How to Apply' webpage.
If you have applied to the SUSTAIN AI CDT three times without being shortlisted for interview, you will not be eligible to reapply to the programme for one year.
Please visit the 'Evaluation & Eligibility' section of our 'How to Apply' page for full details.
SUSTAIN AI CDT tend to run three recruitment rounds per academic year. If you would like to be kept informed about future application opening dates, please complete this form to be added to our mailing list.
